I first found out about the HEAL Program when Ms. Shelia came to our Bingo class.
It answered questioned I needed to know, well, how go about eating, and what should I eat, what I shouldn't eat, you know, the portion size.
She hit it right on the head for me, and by her teaching that class, she helped me a great deal because I started implementing what she taught me, and when I went to the doctor Monday I found out I had loss some weight, my blood pressure is down tremendously.
My doctor was so pleased.
She said what you been doing?
I said I went to a HEAL class.
It's just a way to basically re-introduce the community on ways to stay healthy, looking at things that could be a high risk factor for you to be unhealthy.
And you just want to get into the community and let them know that Optima really does care.
We care about people's health, not only about our members, but the community as a whole.
They helped me to get on the track that my doctor had been pushing me to get on.
She encouraged us to interact with her, and that's good because when you interact at our age, it brings us to life.
It got your attention.
It made you think. And it made you want to participate.
And I believe I speak for everybody in the class, it was a good class! That's all I can say. It was a good class! I hope they do a part two!
