Optima Health Partners With The Periscope Group
Optima Health has partnered with The Periscope Group as clinical consultants for members with durable medical equipment (DME), prosthetics, and assistive technology effective March 1, 2023.
For this partnership, Periscope’s physical and occupational therapists will schedule an in-home assessment with eligible members. Periscope’s assessment will support Optima Health’s current authorization process for high-cost DME items.
The assessment normally takes less than an hour and is mainly done by interview and observation. The Periscope therapist may ask you to demonstrate an activity or get your permission to take a picture that supports their assessment narrative. The therapist will also observe existing equipment, any environmental or safety concerns, and other related information to share with Optima Health. Once the assessment is done, a report is delivered to Optima Health, and a final determination will be made by our utilization management (UM) department.
This partnership will cause minimal disruption to you and ensures that Optima Health has the right information to make a timely decision about your request. If you have any questions about this program, please call member services at the number listed on the back of your member ID card.
